More details of Norwegian’s S18 expansion plans at Avinor’s airports are revealed, with new routes to Albania, France and Spain to be introduced from February onwards.
This summer low-cost carrier Norwegian will add new routes to two destinations in France and Spain, as well as introducing direct flights to a completely new country market from Norway ‒ Albania. The five new city pairs, split between Oslo and Bergen airports, is part of Avinor’s largest airline partner’s massive S18 expansion, which will see the LCC add another four 737-800s to its capital city hub.
“Norwegian is a strong partner for Avinor and we are delighted that it is further strengthening its presence at its largest hub, Oslo. With this expansion we expect a large increase in inbound tourism from our European network via Oslo to Avinor’s regional airports, which will further stimulate traffic,” enthuses Jasper Spruit, VP Traffic Development, Avinor.
“The investment that the carrier is putting into Avinor’s airports this year is significant, as we expect Norwegian to add around 1.2 million two-way seats across our hubs and gateways. We thank the airline for its continued faith in its home market.”
In S18, Avinor’s airports will offer connections to over 40 countries around the world, with Norwegian’s new flights to Albania becoming its latest addition to its network portfolio. As a result, 15 Central and Eastern Europe nations will be served from Avinor’s airports in 2018. Spain is already Norway’s fifth largest country market, with France not far behind in ninth position. This summer’s expansion to these countries by Norwegian will see the two markets grow to close to 1.5 million one-way seats combined.
